The German cockroach is probably the most economically important pest. It is the most common cockroach you will find in a home or business. The German cockroach can be found in homes, apartments, hotels, motels, restaurants and other places throughout Ontario. There are other cockroaches that might be found more in other areas but the German cockroach is by far the most common species infesting homes and other areas.
The adults are about 1/2 to 5/8 inches long and have two dark stripes. Both sexes have wings but do not fly. Males can be distinguished from females by a tapering shape of the abdomen.
German cockroach babies, called nymphs, look like adults except they are smaller, have no wings and are darker in color, sometimes even black. One stripe running down the middle of the back is a prominent marking of the younger German cockroach nymph.
The female German cockroach carries the egg capsule protruding from her rear until the eggs are ready to hatch. The German cockroach is the only house-infesting species that carries the eggs capsule this long. This is what makes it the most persistent cockroach in the United States because they are less likely to be taken by predators.
The adult females can produce 4 to 8 egg capsules in their lifetime. Each capsule contains 30 to 48 eggs. It usually takes 20 to 30 days from the time of initial formation of the first egg capsule until it hatches. There are 6 to 7 nymphal stages, called instars, until they molt into the adult stage. The nymphs have habits as adults. They are mostly active at night and hide in cracks and crevices during the day. Seeing German cockroaches during the day is usually an indication of over population. All cracks and crevices are full or food is in short supply and they are stressed.

German cockroaches usually hide in areas where there is ample food and moisture such as kitchens and other food areas but they can be found in other areas if they are stressed and as a result of a repellent insecticide somewhere else in the building or home. German cockroaches are attracted to fermented foods and beverage residues. If water is present, adults can live about a month without food, but young nymphs will die of starvation within 10 days. Without food or water the adults will die in about 2 weeks.

Our exterminators will inspect the structure for points of vulnerabilities that may result in cause of future infestations or conditions that may be helping the Pest flourish. It will be up to the owner to act on the recommendations.
In about 3-5 weeks, all pests would have been eliminated having consumed the bait. Typically, the Pests would simply cease to exist. However, it is possible that some Pests may expire near human living spaces. In that case, client would have to remove or clean them.

Question: Other companies are offering to spray and even that multiple applications. Why do you suggest to apply bait to Exterminate German Cockroaches?
Answer: Not only it is a environmentally friendly initiative and Green approach by QPM, it simply works best in most situations. If you have a case of an extremely high cockroach infestation, where there are thousands of cockroaches and you see dozens of them during day light hours in any given cabinet of your kitchen, then Spraying first and doing a follow-up with bait may make sense.
Question: What are the disadvantages of the Spray application for German cockroach extermination?
Answer: Cockroaches would take shelter at the first signs of an insecticide spray being applied. And cockroaches have developed resistance to the residual affects of most commercial insecticides. Spraying on a cockroach and spraying on a surface that may be traveled upon by a cockroach are two very different applications.
Question: What are the advantages of the Bait application for German cockroach extermination?
Answer: Firstly, it works. Cockroaches are attracted to it's palatability. While cockroaches have develop resistance and avoidance techniques for surfaces treated by commercial insecticide spray, they are attracted to the gourmet components of the bait such as carbohydrates and water content. Because cockroaches ingest this bait and the minute amount of insecticide with it. This insecticide works from inside of the target organism. Hence, bait work flawlessly.
Question: What is the difference between bait application by different providers. Why your bait application is superior to others for cockroach extermination?
Answer: Firstly, not all baits are created equal. It is the bulk of the contents of a bait that would attract the cockroach. The cockroaches have developed avoidance for the compositions that are detrimental to them. So the Baits that have been used for many years, are now avoided by cockroaches. We select from the most effective baits available for commercial applications. These products are only available to Licensed Pesticide Operators and only deployed by Licensed Exterminators.
Question: Is one treatment often enough to get rid of problem ?
Answer: From our experience, more than 90% cases would be resolved by one bait application. If needed, we would provide with one follow-up treatment within the 7-months period, free of cost to our clients.
